Similar to yesterday we pass through lots of little towns; schools are breaking up for the day as we pass so it's busier than normal.
After driving past the entrance to the Udawalawe National Park my driver says there is an elephant upfront - woo hoo! On getting closer its hanging out right on the boarder of the park eating. We stop and I run over - I'm within 10 metres of this amazing animal. Wow wow wow.
After 4 hours of driving we stop at Matara for lunch – on exiting the car I nearly pass out, it’s sooo hot and humid! I decline lunch but enjoy a cool water. I'm told only 41 km to Galle so we are slowly getting there.
The last part drive we take on the highway but why I'm not sure as we are going well below the speed limit. Finally we locate the hotel; 5.5 hours after leaving Ella and that included a break. Very happy I'm staying put for two nights, my mode of transport will be feet and tuk tuk only :) Time to go out and explore Galle.
