Friday 2 June and I'm on the airport express AGAIN! Even to me this seems crazy. I'm off to Da Nang, Vietnam for the weekend with a group of girlfriends. For the second time this year (that I remember) I'm flying a non one-world airline which means no lounge pre-flight. I definitely don't want this to continue....
As I have work calls I make my own way to the gate. This means I'll hopefully manage to stay awake longer tonight! Less drinking time :)
We depart HK about 40 minutes late, not surprising given its Friday night. Kat and I have a spare seat between us - perfect to put our drinks on!
Kat's onto it and heads down to the back of the plane to buy us wine.
As we land we are informed its 38 degrees - Kat and I look at each other and repeat. Wholly smoke that's hot!!!!! V had arranged a car to the villa so finally once everyone is through immigration we are off!
As we slow down to enter a complex I realize it's where I've stayed before with Mum and Dad a few years ago. On entering the villa first thing I notice is how big and spacious it is – not sure if I’ll be going back to HK!! We have dinner prepared for us in the villa.
Saturday 3 June I wake early; I had really wanted to go for a run but it's very hot (33+ degrees and it’s not even 8am) so decide no exercise for me.
We have the ladies from last night prepare breakfast for us. A nice treat. One of the girls had wandered around to the restaurant earlier and came back with iced coffee….yes thanks I’ll be into that. Aah Vietnamese Coffee!!
We have the day at the villa chilling, swimming, drinking and chatting. Perfect.
We have a car collect us at 5pm to head into Hoi An for a wander and dinner….finally we depart at 5.25pm. If only I could say it was due to trying to get 10 women ready at the same time, this time it’s the departure time being given to some incorrectly. Hey ho.
I’ve always enjoyed my time in Hoi An so was looking forward to going back.
On arrival the heat hits us all! We had been nice and comfortable sitting in a/c
We wander around some of the streets before deciding to head to the restaurant earlier than our reservation.
Dinner at Morning Glory was amazing!!
Post dinner we have a couple of stops before wandering back to the car then to the villa.
Sunday 4 June it’s another early wake-up; I had slept terribly….fully blame the espresso patron…..
We have a chilled time at the villa until we need to check out at 2pm. Bit of a mad dash with packing up for some of the girls but we make it then wander around to the restaurant for a late lunch and much need food!! We have a couple of hours before the car collects us to take us to the airport.
It’s been a lovely weekend away.- very easy to get to from Hong Kong; I’m sure I’ll return.
