Kat tried to arrange for us to sit all together but the check in agent wasn’t having a bar of it.
We walk over to terminal 1 and straight to duty free. I never knew you could ever spend so much time in a duty free store. 9 bottles of alcohol purchased, we are sorted.
As we are flying Air Asia there is no lounge so pizza express is our choice for food and drinks. It doesn’t disappoint.
We depart Hong Kong a little late, clearly Friday night rush hour traffic.
it’s a slow boring trip….I know I’ve said it before (and I’m pretty sure I’ll be saying it again), no more budget airlines please!! I don’t need the food, but a drink and some TV would be great thanks very much.
We manage to make up some time and land basically on time before getting onto buses to the terminal. Kat and I are straight through the APEC line then through security. No issue with our bags and booze. We have a good 25 minutes waiting for everyone else to come through. Thank goodness it’s air conditioned standing here. They finally appear. Time to locate our airport transfer.
It’s about a 30 minute drive to the villa. As we arrive at the complex the driver announces he’s never been here before, I think how hard can it be. We then drive up a steep hill (yeah won’t be running in the morning!) and the road forks off in 3 different ways. Hmmm I take that back. Definitely hard if you have never been here before. We drive around the complex a bit, some of the roads are very very steep (a tad scary) before locating our villa for the next two nights.
WOW it’s massive!! The staff meet us at the front door and put us in the lift with our luggage. I have a feeling I’m going to get myself lost over the weekend.
We all look around – what a shame we are only here for 2 nights, but I know my bank balance is pleased! Kat decides on a room after no one else does. Sleep is needed!!
Saturday 12 May we have a wakeup call at 6.17am when the power goes out. Around 7am, when the power comes back on, the TV then switches on and is super loud. I’m definitely awake now!!
The view outside is amazing! We can see down to the sea.
On heading down to the pool / kitchen / dining room level a couple of the girls are already up and have clearly been busy as there are balloons everywhere for Anna’s birthday.
After enjoying a coffee sitting by the pool we move inside for breakfast with bubbles. Great way to start the day!
V had prearranged everything (she is great at organising!!) for the weekend. Today it’s all about chilling out in / around the pool. None of us have any issues with that.
Lunch is a delicious Thai BBQ.
The afternoon is spent the same way the morning was – swimming, chatting, drinking and repeat. Late afternoon a few of the girls go down to the beach. Thanks but I’m going to stay and enjoy this amazing place!
Phuket sunset doesn’t disappoint!!
We enjoy a tasty thai dinner which Elfie’s Mum, sister, brother-in-law and their children join us for.
A decision is made to go into Patong Beach. I detest this place!! I’ve been once and swore I’d never ever return. When you are with a group sometimes you don’t have a choice…..so off we go in a taxi to Patong Beach.
It’s a good 30 minute drive from our villa. Once we arrive I’m immediately reminded why I detest this place. Ooh dear….it’s a complete shit hole!!! We go into a couple of different places before Kat and I decide to leave the group and go and sit down waiting for the taxi. I had wanted to leave basically 10 minutes after arriving
I’ve was so happy when our taxi van finally turned up. NEVER AGAIN!!
Sunday 13 May I wake at 5am, yeah no thanks. Then again at 6.50am. Managed to go back to sleep to 8.30am.
We have a chilled morning at the villa – breakfast is in shifts as people arrive. It’s super-hot, a shame we don’t have another day here just to kick back and relax.
Sorting out the bill is painful and slow but we finally got there. Never easy with so many people and when people had different massages.
We have a few hours before our flight so head to a beach for a final meal. Lunch was tasty. Very chilled sitting here listening to the waves. Service slow, always the way when you are in a rush.
Our taxi was waiting for us when we exited. It’s a fun filled ride to the airport! I’m not ready for our weekend away to come to an end.
On arrival at the airport we have no luck with sitting together at check-in. Kat and I manage to change our seats at the boarding gate so we are sitting together, a nice end to a fab weekend!
Goodbye Phuket – time for my body to recover!
