We have a good 40 minute wait (on Friday 9 September) before the train finally arrives at Perugia station - definitely not on Japanese or German time here Dorothy!
Passignano sul Trasimeno is a small town on the shores of Lake Trasimeno. Lake Trasimeno, in the Umbria region and on the border of Tuscany, is the fourth largest lake in Italy.
The train journey kept us entertained – there were sunflower fields after sunflower fields!
Once we work out the right direction to the town area we wander towards and around the lake. There is next to no one around, which is a pleasant change from our other day trips! It’s so nice and peaceful!
We wander the small alleyways in and around the town; doesn’t take us long to get around.
As it’s a super-hot day we decide to find somewhere for lunch that isn’t in the sun. Thank goodness for the odd breeze which is a welcome respite while we search for a restaurant.
We locate a packed restaurant off the main street and on viewing the menu decide that we’ll stay. We have a few minutes wait while they prepare the table. Lunch doesn’t disappoint.
Getting back to the train station is an easy wander, given we know the direction! It’s been a pleasant few hours here, time to return to Perugia.
