Bali, Indonesia – 29 June – 3 July 2012

How fitting that on my 12 year anniversary (29 June 2012) leaving the land of the long white cloud I'm getting on a plane to Bali, Indonesia.

After a minor issue leaving the city, for love or money I couldn't get a taxi, I'm all checked in and enjoying toasting (my anniversary) and celebrating (the fact I'm on holiday) with a glass of bubbles.

I manage to be one of the first to get the visa on arrival, one line done! Now to tackle immigration. After a few minutes not moving one of the officers decided to open a counter - awesome, I'd gone from about 15th in line to 3rd. I was amazed to find my luggage waiting for me, I had expected me to be doing the waiting!  A refreshing change from what I usually encounter. I was rather nervous going through the customs line, given I was traveling alone, so attached myself to a couple :) Straight through then the fun started trying to locate my hotel sign. I'm very pleased I arranged a pick-up as trying to find a taxi would have been an interesting experience and who knows where I would have ended up.

I am super impressed with the lady that checks me in, she definitely knows her stuff!!

I have a lovely quiet day on Saturday - reading by the pool. Life doesn't get much better than this :)

Sunday morning I join "run Westin" for a 5km run and at one stage through I might call for a helicopter to take me back to the hotel. This whole running outside business is hard!! I'm use to a climate controlled area on a treadmill :) Given I want to do a 10km run in September I need to be getting out there to practice practice practice.

I spent the day reading by the pool. Two days of doing this and I feel like I've been on holiday for a week.
Monday was exactly the same as yesterday except no run. Absolutely wonderful.

Tuesday I had the morning at the pool before having to check out and head to the airport for a mid afternoon flight. A shame I couldn't have the full day.

I'm returning to Singapore feeling very relaxed and as if I've been away for much longer than I was – believe another long weekend away will be on the cards before the end of the year!
