The bus journey to Bangkok doesn't feel as long today. We pull into Bangkok 3.5 hours after leaving and within minutes I’m on a busy skytrain before changing onto the airport line. Decided to ask Air Asia if I can check in now, as my flight is at 6.30am tomorrow this means I can sleep a bit longer! All worked out fine, am checked in, tomorrow I give my pack and I'm ready to go.
Given it's now 6pm and rush-hour I decide to take the shuttle to the hotel then in the morning can get a taxi.
I've had a couple of hours with no access to wifi so after dropping my bags I check-in on what's been going on. Then it's dinner - I'm well overdue for my Singha given there wasn't one at lunchtime.
Thursday (28 January) I’m woken at 2.49am by the sound of two planes - 1 hour 40 minutes too I need to get up. When my alarm goes off all I want to do is hit the snooze button and go back to sleep. Unfortunately that isn't an option given I have a flight to be on in 2 hours.
The drive to the airport is entertaining, even though it's still dark. I see quite a few people still out from last night.
Given I had checked in yesterday it takes 3 minutes to drop off my bag - the fun then starts going through immigration. The lines were all crazy long, now I understand why you are asked to come to the airport earlier.
For the first time ever I manage to spend all of my THB - an amazing feat for me as usually I'm left with countless currency.
Bye bye Thailand - wish I'd stayed longer but I know I'll be back at some stage.
We arrive into Hong Kong a good 20 minutes early, and HK being HK I'm through immigration, exchanged money, collected my bags and waiting for the bus all in under 30 minutes. Efficiency at it's best! How I missed this.
After a couple of hours at Kat's I head into Central to meet a friend for lunch. For the first time in 3 months I'm wearing jeans in the middle of the day - and I don't like it. Apart from being here seeing friends I would much prefer to be still on the beach.
