When I was given the opportunity to go to Phuket for a few days, with Moon, Andrew and the children, pre my Christmas Break I jumped at it!!! A few days R&R before the long flight home.
I flew out of HK on the afternoon of Saturday, 12 December direct to Phuket. What seemed like ages waiting for passengers, who were flying in to make the flight, we were off and thankfully before too long landed in Phuket. The first thing I noticed was the heat and humidity, a big change from HK. Andrew was at the airport waiting for me which was lovely. We returned back to their villa, where we spent the evening relaxing, chatting and drinking and eating.
Sunday morning I went for a 30 minute rain before joining Moon and Andrew at a yoga class - I was very nervous about this as I'd only ever done one yoga class, when I was in NYC and said I'd never do it again. I won't say I managed, but I did get through the class.
From here we picked up the children and headed to the one of the three pools on this huge resort! Lots of jumping in and out of the water. After lunch we headed down to Patong Beach, at the bottom of the island. Looked around the shops and markets. I was amazed at how many people were around, and found it to be rather sleazy. Had dinner then headed back to the resort.
Monday I was dragged to another yoga class then went straight to the pool. For a couple of hours we took out a small yacht and went up and down the beach with the children being the captains - most enjoyable! After a late lunch, of pad Thai yet again, we were back to the pool.
That evening there were owner drinks (for those that owned a villa), so off we headed before going to the Thai Restaurant for a yummy dinner. It was on the resort but quite far so we got transported there by golf buggy.
Tuesday morning ran then a quick swim. Thankfully no yoga today, I was let off :) Decided we needed to make good use of the car so headed off, first stop was to do an elephant trek. This was a lot of fun, although a couple of times Moon and I had visions of us in the river with an elephant on top of us. Lots of laughs and very sore hands but it all ended well. Drove onto the next township and had lunch on the beach…no prizes for guessing what I had!
Back to the resort for the afternoon where swimming was the one and only agenda item. Moon and I had seen an advertisement to learn to scuba dive, and as some of you know I have talked about doing this for years and years so decided to give it a try. Was rather strange to begin with, however I would like to try it in open water. Would just be praying I wouldn't freak out and want to get out!!!!
Wednesday morning I got dragged to yoga but left after 15 minutes of being eaten alive of mozzies, they certainly did attack me!! Spent the day at the pool before I had to pack up and return to cold HK. I really wasn't looking forward to returning, but knowing I had 48 hours before flying to NZ to spent Christmas with my family made it bearable to leave.
