London, England and Thessaliki, Greece - April 2007

I've just returned from a trip to London and Greece and it was wonderful!!
I had three nights in London (over Easter weekend.). Great to be back and catch up with my friends. The weather was amazing!!!!! Highlights - get my hair done, with highlights :-); seeing my friends; watching the Oxford v's Cambridge boat race; having a yummy kiwi roast lamb dinner on Easter Sunday.
Monday morning Rachael and I flew to Thessaliki, which is north east Greece. Rach kindly upgraded us to business class which was bliss. I had a slight issue getting into the country.....I don't believe they had seen a kiwi pasport for awhile so wasn't quite sure what to do with me.! We stayed in a little town (Nea Moudania) around 40 minutes away. It was a nice resort which thankfully wasn't full. We spent our days lying by the swimming pool reading, sleeping, chatting and catching some rays :-). Pure bliss!!!! Three nights we walked into the township, more like a village, for dinner. On the second night we found a great restaurant which we visited twice. The food was amazing.
Side note - currently sitting on a plane back to NYC, I went for work. And we've just been given a free wine :-)
We had the pleasure of being told we drink too much, by the waiter in the hotel restaurant, and that we eat to much, by the waiter in the township restaurant we visited twice. Of course we are now wondering......
Saturday afternoon we flew back to London, our wonderful time away had come to an end.
Saturday night I went for dinner with Sue and Julien (who I stayed with) then to a bar. I was really affected by the smoke, such a huge difference to NYC, in the bars and restaurants.
Sunday was a stunning day, 26 degrees so half the world was our enjoying it!!! I did some last minute shopping of deodrant and nurofen :-) before meeting Ange and Aaron for a yummy Italian lunch. Finally landed in NYC 50 minutes late and to super strong winds and rain for Africa. A huge change from the wonderful London weather.
Next trip away is next Thursday, I'm going to Seattle weather permitting of course!!!
